ROLE: Director, shooter, editor.
Feature length documentary: "A Cuban Family" (a 10 year project).
This feature length project, started in 2013, features Ariam, a 19-year-old machinist in Havana, Cuba who lives in a crumbling building with his sick mother and a great uncle who has been there since the revolution.
By day, Ariam works at a state-run factory making $27 a month, but by night, he risks his life by fishing illegally at midnight on a homemade Styrofoam raft. He sells his catch to tourist restaurants to earn extra money for himself and to support his mother who has AIDS.
This personal look into one family’s struggles provides an intimate perspective on the daily life of the new generations of Cubans going through “La Lucha”—the fight.
